A Dry Rainy Season

Despite the common conception that Costa Rica’s rainy season is very wet – it has been quite nice here in Puerto Jimenez and Matapalo over the past few months! It has rained a bit more in October, but generally it has been a great and dry (!) rainy season.

There are unusually more tourists around now than ever during a rainy season. In these month we also see lots of whales in the Gulf Dulce and it’s the perfect time to go for a whale watching tour, kayaking trip, or do a snorkel around the Gulf.

Only downside – Corcovado National Park’s Ranger Station La Sirena is closed during the month of October. But during that time they do necessary improvements and renovations, and get ready for the next high season. You can still do day trips into the park if you’d like to visit during the month of October.

Other than that, it’s also generally a bit cooler during the rainier month… especially at night it can get quite chilly, which is a nice change to the usually very hot temperatures.
